Answers:I would most definitely leave out specific examples, save those for your body paragraphs. I have used facts as part of an introduction, but these facts were used to provide a very broad, general perspective of the topic, normally serving the purpose of historical background or context. Any facts used in an introduction definitely shouldn't have to be cited as they should be common knowledge.
